“And she has actually succeeded in not only making one of the most exciting newly written works I've heard in a long time, but also achieving a synthesis of the whole idea.”
- Matti Edén, music critic and writer on Sydsvenskan (Translated quote).
One of the finalists in Linköpings Studentsångare Composition Award 2024
“Everything was new and yet sounded familiar. No over-refined modernisms. Contemporary music by Hanna Blomberg, written for the ears of the audience. Not against them.”
— Straubinger Tagblatt, article by Kristian Kuhnle
“The German premiere of Hanna Blomberg’s Tidens betydelse (2023) was both thrilling and stimulating.”
“The piece is a compelling and multilayered work, clearly influenced by Swedish folk music.”
“It begins with soft violin lines, answered by the winds, before building into a grand and powerful structure. Modern clusters roll in over the traditional, dance-inspired motifs like a great wave.”
“That Hanna Blomberg is a violinist becomes clear through the many bowing techniques employed throughout the piece.”
— Translated quotes by Dr. Edith Rabenstein
“We have performed for four in various contexts, and it has always been very well received by the audience. It captures the joy we feel when playing together.
The piece is highly varied, full of energy, and playfully blends folk music and art music.”
— Bellevue String Quartet
“In May 2025, Sinfonietta Passau had the honour of presenting the German premiere of the work ‘Tidens betydelse’ by the young Swedish composer Hanna Blomberg. This exciting composition is a brilliant fusion of traditional and modern elements. Full of inspiration and emotion, it successfully contrasts invigorating rhythms with breathtaking brass chorales. The musicians of Sinfonietta Passau and I thoroughly enjoyed the rehearsals and performances. The piece was also highly praised by the audience and the press. It is a great honour for me to present magnificent works by outstanding contemporary female composers. “
- Eleni Papakyriakou, founder and chief conductor of Sinfonietta Passau
